Our Yard Community Guidelines

Our Yard exists to help students buy, sell, and exchange items within a trusted community.

Our goal is to create a marketplace where students feel comfortable connecting with one another, discovering affordable items, and participating in a safe and respectful environment.

By using Our Yard, you agree to follow these Community Guidelines.

Violations may result in listing removal, account restrictions, suspension, or termination.

1. Treat Others With Respect

Our Yard is built around a student community. Users should communicate respectfully and honestly.

Do not:

Harass, threaten, intimidate, or bully other users.
Use hateful, discriminatory, or abusive language.
Send unwanted inappropriate messages.
Impersonate another person.
Attempt to harm another user's reputation without justification.

We encourage users to communicate the way they would expect others to communicate with them.

2. Be Honest About Your Items

Trust is essential for a marketplace. When creating listings, Sellers must:

Upload real photos of the item.
Provide accurate descriptions.
Clearly disclose damage, defects, or missing parts.
List the correct condition.
Avoid misleading titles or descriptions.

Do not:

Use stolen photos.
Misrepresent an item's condition.
Hide important flaws.
Create fake listings.

3. Sell Only Items You Are Allowed to Sell

Users must only list items they legally own or have permission to sell.

Do not list:

Stolen property.
Counterfeit products.
Illegal items.
Items that violate another person's rights.
Items prohibited under Our Yard's Terms of Service.

4. Keep Transactions on Our Yard

For your safety, we encourage users to complete transactions through Our Yard. Using Our Yard provides access to:

Payment protection.
Shipping tracking.
Transaction records.
Dispute assistance.

Users may communicate outside the app; however:

Transactions completed outside Our Yard are not protected by Our Yard, and Our Yard assumes no responsibility for disputes arising from off-platform payments.

5. Communicate Responsibly

Our Yard messaging exists to help Buyers and Sellers complete transactions.

Do not:

Spam other users.
Send fraudulent messages.
Request inappropriate information.
Pressure users into unsafe transactions.
Share malicious links.

Listings and messages may be reviewed by automated systems to detect fraud, spam, prohibited content, or safety issues.

6. Meetups and Personal Safety

If users choose to exchange items in person, we recommend:

Meeting in public locations.
Meeting during daylight hours.
Informing someone you trust about the meetup.
Avoiding private or isolated locations.

Users are responsible for their own safety during in-person exchanges. Our Yard does not arrange, supervise, or guarantee the safety of in-person meetups.

7. Protect Your Account

Users should:

Keep login information secure.
Avoid sharing accounts.
Report suspicious activity.
Avoid creating multiple accounts to avoid restrictions.

Do not:

Attempt unauthorized access.
Use another person's account.
Create fake identities.

8. Do Not Abuse Marketplace Protections

Our Yard provides protections to help users complete successful transactions.

Do not:

File false claims.
Request fraudulent refunds.
Intentionally damage items after receiving them.
Misuse disputes to avoid payment.

Abuse of Buyer Protection or transaction systems may result in account restrictions.

9. Keep Our Yard Safe

Users should report:

Suspicious listings.
Scams.
Harassment.
Prohibited items.
Unsafe behavior.
Fraud attempts.

Reports help us maintain a safer community.

10. Prohibited Content

Users may not upload or share content that includes:

Hate speech.
Threats or violence.
Sexual content.
Illegal activity.
Fraudulent information.
Content that violates intellectual property rights.

11. Account Enforcement

If a user violates these Community Guidelines, Our Yard may take action, including:

Removing listings.
Removing content.
Restricting account features.
Suspending accounts.
Permanently terminating accounts.

The severity of action depends on the circumstances and history of violations.

12. Building the Our Yard Community

Our Yard is more than a marketplace — it is a community. We encourage users to:

Be honest.
Support fellow students.
Give accurate information.
Communicate respectfully.
Help create a trusted environment.
